Longview, TX, August 27, 2019 –(PR.com)– INDEVCO North America Plastics Division announces the installation of four new silos at its manufacturing plant in Longview, Texas. The silos are accompanied by a new resin distribution system installed alongside the company’s existing six silos.

Increased Resin Storage

The installation process started in mid-April 2019 and increases the facility’s resin storage capacity by over 825,000 lbs. The four 12’ x 60’ silos are a step towards the blown film manufacturer’s national expansion and will accommodate growing petrochemical packaging demand resulting from the long-awaited surge in the export resin market. IHS Markit estimates U.S. containerized polyethylene exports will reach 1M TEU this year. Houston is the largest US gateway for resins, handling about 42% of the nation’s exports.

INDEVCO Plastics Longview will leverage the additional resin capacity to increase production and streamline its supply chain to benefit customers with growing needs for their key products: FFS roll stock film, U-film, stretch hood film, shrink bundling film, sealant film, and converter film.

Improved Unloading Capabilities

INDEVCO Plastics Longview also completed the installation of two additional railcar unloading systems to accommodate the silo expansion. Each pump is expected to unload up to 25,000 lbs./hour of resin from railcar to silo. The full resin distribution system features Velocity Blowers® products, manufactured by Velocity Industrial in Terrel, Texas.

“Our new plant investments will help us drastically decrease the need to bring in resin by box or bag. By eliminating small quantity handling and freeing up storage space on the floor, we’re better able to provide efficient and cost-effective plastic films and packaging to our customers,” explained Rick Gibson, Engineering Manager of INDEVCO Plastics Longview.

INDEVCO Plastics launched its blown film manufacturing operations in Longview, Texas in 2015.

With sister companies, INDEVCO Group is the largest global supplier of FFS (form-fill and seal) film to the petrochemical industry, producing over 70,000 MT packaging a year. The additional silos and unloading investments will enable sustainable growth for the company as the exports of resins continue to increase over the next couple of years.

While the Longview facility primarily produces packaging for petrochemicals and resins, the company also produces a variety of plastic packaging for other industries including salt and minerals, lawn and garden, material handling, appliances, food and beverage, and more.
